Welcome to Twenties and Travel, a blog detailing my travels as I move through my twenties. I will try to explore new places and discuss my favourite parts of the wonderful cities I explore. So far, I have been to 35 countries and counting! Hopefully, one of the posts you discover in this blog will inspire you to visit a place you have dreamed of seeing but never found the correct time.
I finished studying my Masters in Mathematics and Physics at Bristol University in 2014 and I am currently working as a Finance Graduate at Virgin Media. I am currently based in Leeds, rather far away from my current home in Bristol - this will provide an unmissable opportunity to explore the north of my own country, not just explore foreign ones!
I believe travel is fundamental to understanding the world and helps us to realise how we only see a tiny part of it - I maintain this is the reason that people say the more you travel, the more you want to travel. Travel provides a unique opportunity to learn from people who have followed a different life path to you. These chance meetings provide inspiration and the greatest opportunity for self improvement. Meeting someone who has a different outset on life can change the way you think and understand the world - it is these experiences, these life changing conversations, which I intend to find whilst away from home.
“Adventure is a path. Real adventure – self-determined, self-motivated, often risky – forces you to have firsthand encounters with the world. The world the way it is, not the way you imagine it. Your body will collide with the earth and you will bear witness. In this way you will be compelled to grapple with the limitless kindness and bottomless cruelty of humankind – and perhaps realize that you yourself are capable of both. This will change you. Nothing will ever again be black-and-white.” – Mark Jenkins
